LG) 5 Wide-pitch thread screw for plastic (No. 8A X 1/2-in. LG) 12 Wire adaptor 2 Installation Instructions 1 INSTALLATION Step 1–Remove Old Motor Assembly 1. Turn off gas and electrical supplies to furnace. 2. Remove control access door. 3. Loosen hose clamp and disconnect drain tube from collector box. Drain tube runs from bottom of inducer outlet box elbow to collector box. 4. Disconnect motor lead connector from furnace wire harness. 5. Remove screw securing motor ground wire and inducer control box ground wire (when used). The ground screw may be located on blower shelf or on top mounting bracket of inducer assembly. 6. Remove screws securing left mounting bracket to collector box and plastic inducer housing. 7. Remove screws securing top mounting bracket to coupling box. 8. Remove screws securing plastic cover plate to inducer housing. Retain top mounting bracket. 9. Remove motor assembly from inducer housing. Turn off gas and electrical supplies to unit before beginning any installation or modification. Follow operating instructions on label attached to furnace. Failure to follow this warning could result in personal injury or death. 10. Remove and discard old cover plate gasket located in groove on inducer housing. Step 2–Install New Motor Assembly 1. Install new cover plate gasket in groove on inducer housing. INTRODUCTION 2. Position new motor assembly on inducer housing. Ensure gasket is properly seated. 3. Secure cover plate to housing using wide-pitch threaded screws (provided in kit). Leave top hole vacant. 4. Install left mounting bracket on inducer housing with 2 wide-pitch threaded screws. 5. Install top mounting bracket (wide end against cover plate) with 1 wide-pitch threaded screw on top of inducer housing. Secure ground wire(s) with this screw if previous motor was grounded in this manner. Otherwise, ground motor to blower shelf. 6. Secure top mounting bracket to coupling box using 1 stainless steel screw (provided in kit). 7. Secure left mounting bracket to collector box using 2 widepitch stainless steel screws (provided in kit). SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS Installing and servicing heating equipment can be hazardous due to gas and electrical components. Only trained personnel should install or service heating equipment. Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance functions such as cleaning and replacing filters. All other operations should be performed by trained service personnel. When working on heating equipment, observe precautions in the literature, on tags, and on labels attached to the unit. Follow all safety codes. Wear safety glasses and work gloves. Have a fire extinguisher available. Recognize safety information. This is the safety-alert symbol. When you see this symbol on the furnace and in instructions or manuals, be alert to the potential for personal injury. Understand the signal words DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION. These words are used with the safety-alert symbol.
